Sofia Pileggi

Sofia Pileggi is an unrelenting day-dreamer who fell in love with storytelling and writing in elementary school. When Tomie dePaola’s Strega Nona was read to her, she felt a connection to her family’s Italian heritage. Diagnosed with hearing loss as a child, Sofia is passionate about creating connections for other children who are hard-of-hearing or wear hearing aids.

She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University where she studied Early Childhood Education. Sofia has turned her love of books, children, and being a life-long learner into a career as a second grade teacher, while writing picture books and young adult fiction.

An Ohio native, Sofia is a midwestern girl living in Italy. She obtained dual citizenship thanks to her grandparents, and moved to Italy in 2017. When she is not writing, she enjoys running, listening to true crime podcasts, re-watching Jane the Virgin, and making her way through her to-be-read pile of books. Sofia is also Milan’s self-appointed gelato taste-tester, making her way to as many gelaterias as she can.
